Market ended in the positive territory on the back of 1.1bm turnover. Foreigners were net buyers for the day while foreign participation accounted for 43% of the day's turnover.

Northern and Eastern Provincial grow the highest in 2012.

Sri Lanka's war ravaged North and East provinces grew fastest in 2012 helped by construction, but also by banking and agriculture according to the data released by Central bank showed.

The Northern Province's norminal GDP for 2012 was rupees 309Bn (+25.9YoY) and the nominal GDP for the Eastern province was 474bn(+25YoY). The western province which holds the highest population showed a 13.4% YOY growth and had 43.4% share of 2012's total economic output. The overall country's 2012 GDP was 7582bn (+15.9YoY)

The Finance Company to be investigated on fraud
The Criminal Investigations Department is to investigate on a claim against The Finance Company(LKR 9; not covered), That is defrauded LKR 36mn from depositors. The company was engaged in diversified business activities including land sales, property development and housing projects. The allegation deals with a fraudulent dealings by a finance director. Based on the june 2013 quarter TFC's total equity stood at a negative LKR 7bn and recorded a loss of LKR 433Mn.

Market statistics

ASPI index increased by 1.1% and end 5730 points other than privious day 5667 points and S&PSL 20 index also grown 0.9% and ended 3179 points.
