Sri Lanka's Laugfs Gas Plc, a group with interests in energy, retailing and leisure said the first phase of a mini hydro power plant has started operations on March 17.
Laugfs had earlier said its Ranmudu Oya mini-hydro plant is Balangoda will be 1.5 MegaWatts and will be developed in two phases.
It will sell power to state-run Ceylon Electricity Board.
